Buying from Rental [ HERTZ]

i am not an admirer of hertz but at this moment i have to be a client of used car sales from hertz. if any of the deal was not below the book value then i would have been less attracted to it. but since it was so tempting i started to drool over some of so called deals.

there was a listing for 

a. 2010 Toyota Corolla for $10,100.00 [ i thought this was a decent deal so i called them up at the facility in stockton, CA and they told me that vehicle was gone. apparently it was at a wholesale price for dealers and i am not eligible to get that deal .... ] its truly rotten and i gave up the idea of paying 13000 for corolla when i saw another ad for 13995 ( with 1000$$ promotional off) as advertised here http://www.hertzcarsales.com/Search?Makes=Toyota&Models=Camry&PostalCode=95337&pageSize=10&pageNumber=1&Distance=100mi . 

regardless, i just put a hold on a vehicle to be picked up in future for $13995 as a base price and few $$$$ added to total before i can pick it up. total damage turned out 15354$$ for now. with the insurance settlement i would have to bring in another 4600 for this car to be taken home......

Total Loss

total loss is a favorite word of insurance adjustor. this seems to be a common scenario once your airbags are deployed. it does not matter to the extent of damage.

impact/damage on my car was confined to the front but total estimate for repair came at 10717. which was above the threshold of the percentage of book value of this car and my insurance declared it total-loss.

now i am/was in a dilemma what to do. should i spend the money i get from insurance to buyback the car (2000$ based on the insurance offer). so i have X-2000 to get the vehicle fixed. is this really worth the hassle.. not sure. still thinking but finally i decided to give up the agony (and the hassle to get the salvage title which will royally screw me up :( ).

so i decided to take the $$$$$ from insurance company and go look for another vehicle... which is definitely going to cost me more than what they offered and take a hike. although this was definitely a raw deal for me but i have to take it with the grain of salt and take the settlement offer from the insurance company. really no other route. Only thing i miss is that i bought a brand new fully loaded car which was a very very low mileage vehicle and now its totalled :(..... i am sure the insurance company is going to repair this and sell it ..... at least for now autocheck does not show the accident ... regardless here is the auto check report http://classic.gmpsdealer.com/milwaukee/experian.cgi?SID=5085932&VIN=1FAHP34N46W200297

Car Accident [ worst happennings ]

i finally figured out why its so difficult to lead a simple life in united states. everything is complicated and revolved around manipulation. i know its my blabbering but what has caused me to come back to blogging is the reality of what's happening.

my wife in her subconscious mind thought something was being hurled at her. this basically cased her to veer off I-205 into the field in tracy. it was fortunate for her that nothing happened but the vehicle took most of the grunt. poor 2006 ford focus ZX4 SES got the beating out of this. here are few of the pictures taken by the insurance adjuster. they are attached below.

apparently most of the damage was concentrated in the front. apparently this caused both airbags to be deployed. obviously passenger side airbag deployment created the impact on the front windshield.

basically the extent of damage is in the front on the bumper, windshield and airbag. looks like the oil-pan is broken as well since the dashboard is showing the red-light on the oil as well. mechanic from body shop actually drove the vehicle to check if it starts. it was all fine. but my beloved insurance company decided to declare this vehicle a total-loss. another nightmare..... at least for me.. rest i leave upto dealer to decide.

Manteca Living

its been exactly to date 1year 1month since i moved to manteca, CA. its about 75 miles :) from where i work but it was worth it in a sense that i got a 2010 brand new house for $311,990. i am sure value of my residential property has gone down but county of san joaquin does not agree with my appeal and request and still charges me taxes on the actual purchase price.

its depressing to see that the value of my neighbors being reduced while yours stays the same for no apparent explanation.

phew!!! its tough

i am getting gray hair already thinking about where i would be bunking in about two weeks.

i am moving to California from Connecticut. i was living in a small town in seymour which was 75 miles from new york city.

right now i am looking for some houses i.e. single family houses (SFH) and dyamn they are expensive in santa clara county. i put an offer for 405,000$ for 2 bedroom house in Milpitas, CA and i got outbid by 6 (six) other potential buyers and my bid was the lowest... . so lets see when this listing is going to go in contract. for 33 years old 1200 sq ft 2 bedroom house that was all i was willing to go for http://www.redfin.com/CA/Milpitas/1034-Matterhorn-Ct-95035/home/568017. its still listed.. and they might be counter offering... talk about slow real estate...

now i have two choices or should i say three

(1) rent... now i need 3 bedroom so renting is going to cost me about 1900 (plus)
this is why i am looking @ buying some place. not sure if that is truly worth or not... i will find that in time....

based on my budget ... i can
either
(1) buy a condominium/town house in around santa clara
or (2) move to tracy or even manceta and buy a decent house for the same price...

its a dilemma..... i am wrestling with. i will know more when i head to tracy tomorrow. will see if i like the neighbourhood .... to live there for i don't know how long but definitely for long enough to be willing to commute 1.5 hrs each way :)
